Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
CAS & Associates, LLC (CAS) has extensive experience in soil and groundwater testing & profiling of soil or disposal and/or reuse in accordance with regulatory requirements. Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) are usually initiated when they are recommended in a Phase I ESA. Basically, a Phase II ESA is conducted to establish the chemical makeup of the soil and groundwater in order to determine if there are significant amounts of contaminants that may require remediation or monitoring.
In general, the scope of services for a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment includes an evaluation of the following:

Surficial soil and water samples to determine the extent and levels of contaminants at the site,
Subsurface soil borings are drilled to determine the extent and levels of contaminants,

Groundwater monitoring well installation, sampling,
and analysis (maybe appropriate on neighboring properties
as well) are performed to determine the presence of any
contamination,
Groundwater characterization is performed by obtaining
groundwater samples,
A sampling of dry wells, floor drains and catch basins,
Geophysical testing for buried tanks and drums if required

Should further investigation and/or sampling be necessary,
additional research and information gathering may be required
