Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)

CAS & Associates, LLC (CAS) has extensive experience in Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) within the state of Idaho. Phase II ESAs are usually initiated when they are recommended in a Phase I ESA. Basically, a Phase II ESA is conducted to establish the chemical makeup of the soil and groundwater in order to determine if there are significant amounts of contaminants that may require remediation or monitoring.

Surficial soil and water samples to determine the extent and levels of contaminants at the site, subsurface soil borings are drilled to determine the extent and levels of contaminants, groundwater monitoring well installation, sampling, and analysis are performed to determine the presence of any contamination.

The Scope of Services of a Phase II ESA Include:

  • Subsurface soil borings are drilled to determine the  extent and levels of contaminants,

  • Surficial soil and groundwater sampling to determine the extent  and levels of contaminants at the site, and

  • Groundwater monitoring well installation, sampling to determine the presence of any contamination.

Groundwater Characterization is Performed by Obtaining Groundwater Samples

  •  A sampling of dry wells, floor drains, and catch basins,

  •  Geophysical testing for buried tanks and drums if required,

  • Should further investigation and/or sampling be necessary, additional research and information gathering may be required contamination,

  • Groundwater characterization is performed by obtaining groundwater samples,

  •  A sampling of dry wells, floor drains, and catch basins,

  •  Geophysical testing for buried tanks and drums if required.
